QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
What do I need to consider before refuelling for the first time?
The refillable gas cylinders are tested for leaks at the factory using air pressure. Therefore, the Withdrawal valve (handwheel) should be opened before refuelling to release the pressure and then closed again. A small amount of air remains in the refillable gas cylinder. When refuelling for the first time, this results in an enormous amount of cold inside the tank. In exceptional cases, the float of the filler stop valve may freeze and not close in time. For this reason, never fill the tank with more than 19.6 litres of fuel. Even with a two-bottle system, you should never fill up with more than specified. Keep a close eye on the refuelling process, especially the drive of the fuel pump, and stop manually if necessary.
Can I fill the bottle myself?
No, the cylinder may only be filled at the designated filling stations (gas retailers) and only by qualified personnel.
What is the difference between the composite cylinders on offer?
In the case of composite cylinders, a basic distinction is made between a multivalve cylinder and an OPD valve cylinder. While the OPD bottle is attractively priced, the multivalves offer separate connections for refuelling and dispensing. The multivalve version is therefore recommended for use in motorhomes, while the single OPD bottle is recommended for mobile applications, such as in trade, on construction sites or in the garden.
What happens after 10 years?
After 10 years, the cylinder must be checked again or replaced.
Can the bottle be left lying around?
In order to ensure that the 80% fill stop works and that the gas is removed in gaseous form, the cylinder must be mounted vertically.
Which gas may be refuelled?
In principle, bottled gas from conventional exchange cylinders is no different from LPG, which you can refuel yourself. Both gases are mixtures of propane and butane. Abroad, LPG is also known as GLP or GPL.
