FAQ
Gas Cylinders
In the following we will answer the most frequently asked questions about gas cylinders and gas tanks in leisure vehicles. Should you nevertheless have further questions about your mobile gas supply in motorhomes, caravans or on the boat - use our contact form and a competent employee will get in touch with you.
What do I have to consider before the first refuelling?
The refillable gas cylinders are tested for leaks in the factory using compressed air. The test pressure is then released. Therefore the extraction valve (handwheel) should be opened before refuelling to release residual pressure and then closed again. However, a small amount of compressed air remains in the tank bottle. During the first refuelling, this causes an enormous cold inside the tank. In exceptional cases it is possible that the float of the fill stop valve ices up and does not close in time. Therefore, never fill more than the net filling weight (80% of the total filling volume) into the bottle. Even with a two-bottle system, never fill more than indicated. Observe the drive of the dispenser during the filling process, possibly stop it manually.
What is the difference between the LPG cylinders you offer?
The most important difference is the material. If weight is not a major factor for you, steel cylinders are the cheapest options for a sustainable gas supply. If you absolutely want to manage with less additional weight, you should consider our ALUGAS or composite cylinders. You will find more details in the respective product description of the cylinders.
What is the difference between 4-hole and multivalve?
There is no technical difference between the two valve technologies. Depending on the installation situation, one or the other valve arrangement may be more advantageous. In addition, the fill level indicator on the 4-hole tank bottle is larger and therefore easier to read.
Is the gas extracted in liquid or gaseous form?
All our LPG cylinders are designed for gaseous extraction. On request, however, we can also supply gas cylinders with a liquid extraction, e.g. for the drive of forklift trucks.
May the LPG cylinders lie down?
In order to ensure the function of the 80% fill stop and gaseous extraction, the cylinder must be mounted vertically.
Where can I have the LPG cylinder installed?
The cylinders should be installed by a specialist company. On request, we can arrange for an installation company in your vicinity. Simply contact us using the contact form and let us know your postcode.
Can I fill up at any LPG filling station?
After appropriate acceptance of the installation, you may fill up at any filling station throughout Europe.
Which gas may be filled up?
The so-called bottled gas from the conventional exchange bottles is in principle no different from the LPG, which you refuel independently. Both gases are a mixture of propane and butane. Autogas (LPG) is also called GLP or GPL abroad.
Why are there so many different ways to configure your LPG cylinder set?
Since every gas box and every installation position in motorhomes, caravans or on the boat is different, we offer you this extensive selection so that you can put together a solution that suits you. If you have any questions or problems, a competent employee will be at your disposal. Simply use our contact form for this purpose.
My Truma heater switches to fault and displays error E122H. What should I do?
Possible air residues in the bottle can interfere with sensitive systems such as the Truma heating system. We therefore recommend that you operate the hob for approx. 10 minutes to remove any air residue. This procedure is only necessary after the initial fuelling or valve replacement.
What happens to LPG cylinders after the 10 year test period has expired?
First of all, the 10 year test period does not affect any LPG cylinders which are homologated according to ECE 67R01. Like for example the steel cylinders from CAMPKO. However, cylinders of aluminium gas or composite gas cylinders must be tested. We carry out these pressure tests in cooperation with the TÜV. For this purpose you can send the empty gas cylinders to us. After successful testing, the service life is extended by another 10 years. The costs for this are about 90,00€, depending on whether a repair of the valve is necessary or not. Please contact us for further information.
