Mechanical closure
As a mechanical connecting element, the lock holds the clamp geometry securely together. The clamp can be opened for radial assembly of customised variants.
Block locking
Block closure means that the two ear legs of an ear clamp touch each other during the applied closing force. The additional closing force applied from the moment a block closure occurs is absorbed by the block closure and is not transferred any further to the material to be clamped. If a statement is to be made about the effective closing force acting on the material to be clamped during closing, block closing should be avoided
Installation recommendations
The clamp ear is deformed with a constant clamp jaw force - a process that we refer to as "force-priority closing". This assembly method ensures a uniform and repeatable load on the connection with constant tensile stress on the clamp closure. When using this method to close the 167 clamps, deviating component tolerances are equalised so that the clamp applies a uniform radial force to the application.
radial force on the application. Variations in component tolerances are compensated for by varying the ear gap
(s'). Clamp assembly monitoring and process data logging are possible when using an
"Electronically controlled pneumatic clamp Oetiker ELK" in the assembly process.
Important!
- The ear height is naturally given. Do not influence the ear height, neither by changing the ear gap
nor by using integrated hold-down devices in assembly tools.
- Repeated closing of already closed clamps must be avoided

Safety instructions and warnings
Safety instructions for Oetiker stepless ear clamp 19.4 - 22.6mm stainless steel:
- Oetiker clamps should only be fitted by trained personnel.
- Use the correct size of Oetiker clamp for the tube diameter.
- Ensure that the hose is fully seated in the clamp and that the clamp is fully closed.
- Do not overtighten the clamp as this can damage the hose.
- The clamps should be checked regularly to ensure that they are still tight and show no signs of damage.
- Always wear suitable protective gloves when handling the clamps.
- Avoid touching the clamps during operation as they can become very hot.
- Ensure that the clamps are not subjected to loads in excess of their maximum capacity.
